Beautiful/Decay is both an art magazine and a purveyor of fine designer clothing, mostly t-shirts, natch. B/D is producing some of the greatest t-shirts out there today, by collaborating with underknown but talented young artists. I buy a shirt there at least once a month. In one of those oh-so-rare tales of web serendipity, I discovered B/D through another internet discovery, “Defend New Orleans,” an organization dedicated to fighting the blight of gentrification in that fine Southern city, both before and after Katrina. Its founder, Jac Currie, a great artist in his own right, sold me a bunch of clothes from his own line, and then designed a t-shirt for B/D and I’ve been shopping there ever since. There you have it. Sometimes web surfing works.
